Who are the doctors?
The clinic is led by two ophthalmologists, Dr. Park JinHeung and Dr. Park Jae-hyun. Both are board-certified ophthalmologists in Korea and former faculty of Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and are members of the Korean Retina Society. Their fields are divided between the retina and the anterior segment (cornea, lens and refractive surgery), so the retina is checked together with the lens before cataract surgery.

Monofocal lenses mainly correct vision at one distance, so glasses are often needed for reading. Multifocal and trifocal lenses provide vision at several distances, while extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lenses extend the range of functional vision. Spectacle independence, contrast and night-time halos or glare differ by lens design and by eye, and some lenses may not suit eyes with macular disease. The doctor recommends a lens after measuring your eyes and checking the retina.

How long should I stay in Korea?
Plan to stay until at least the check-up on day 3 after surgery; about one week in Seoul is recommended for both cataract surgery and vision correction.
| Step | What to plan |
|---|---|
| Before you fly | Stop contact lenses before the examination: soft 5 days, hard (RGP) 2 weeks, orthokeratology 4 weeks. Send recent eye records if you have them. |
| Day 1 | Detailed examination and consultation. Cataract surgery can be done on the same day depending on the results; for vision correction, the surgery date is planned with you in advance |
| Day 1–2 after surgery | Check-up the next day; rest and use eye drops as instructed |
| Day 3 or later | Check-up on day 3; flying home is usually possible after this visit if the doctor confirms |
| After returning home | Book follow-up with a local ophthalmologist and keep contact with the clinic by email |
What are the risks?
Every eye operation carries risks. After cataract surgery these include inflammation, raised eye pressure, macular swelling, posterior capsule clouding and, rarely, infection or retinal detachment. After SILK or LASEK, dry eye, glare or halos, and under- or over-correction can occur; after LASEK the surface heals over a few days with some discomfort. EVO ICL requires adequate space inside the eye; possible complications include raised eye pressure, cataract, loss of corneal endothelial cells, glare or halos and, rarely, infection or retinal detachment, so regular check-ups are important. If you notice sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, rapidly worsening redness, new flashes or floaters, or a curtain-like shadow over your vision, get emergency eye care where you are immediately — do not wait for an email reply or your scheduled follow-up.
