Cataract & Presbyopia Surgery
Cataract surgery replaces the eye’s clouded natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Multifocal / extended-depth-of-focus lenses can improve near, intermediate, and distance vision, reducing dependence on glasses. The right lens depends on your eyes, daily activities, and night-vision needs — chosen together after examination.

- Healthy eye: the clear natural lens helps focus light on the retina.
- Cataract: the natural lens becomes cloudy and scatters light, which can cause blurred or dim vision and glare.
- After surgery: the cloudy natural lens is removed through a small incision and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL), usually placed within the natural lens capsule.

FAQ
- Which lens is right for me?
- It depends on your eyes and lifestyle; our surgeons recommend the most suitable option after examination.
- Do you treat presbyopia too?
- Yes — presbyopia and cataract can be addressed together with the appropriate lens.
- Is cataract surgery painful?
- Numbing eye drops are used, and most patients feel little or no pain. The procedure itself often takes around 10–15 minutes per eye, although the total time at the clinic is longer.
- When can I get back to normal activities?
- Most light daily activities can be resumed soon after surgery. Avoid rubbing your eyes and swimming for about two weeks, or as your surgeon advises.
- What are the possible risks?
- Possible risks include inflammation, raised eye pressure, infection (endophthalmitis, rare), retinal problems and later clouding of the lens capsule (posterior capsule opacification). With multifocal lenses, glare or halos at night can occur.
- Do you check the retina before surgery?
- Yes. The retina and other eye conditions are assessed before surgery, and the lens plan is decided based on the results.
- Can I have surgery on the same day as my exam?
- Same-day surgery may be possible for some procedures if the examination confirms that you are suitable, you have stopped contact lenses for the required time, the necessary lens or equipment is available, and the schedule allows. Otherwise, we will arrange another date.
- How long should I stay in Seoul?
- We generally recommend allowing about one week in Seoul for follow-up care. Your surgeon will advise you when it is appropriate to fly.
- What is not included in the price?
- Flights, accommodation and local transport are not included. The final plan and price are confirmed after your examination.
- How can I pay?
- Credit cards, including international cards, and cash are accepted.
- How do I contact you before my trip?
- WhatsApp +82-2-577-7782, the 24/7 chat on this page, or email jin.eye.center@gmail.com.

Korea’s First: TECNIS Odyssey™ IOL

Odyssey is designed to deliver a continuous full range of vision — distance, intermediate, and near — with an improved night-vision profile compared with earlier multifocals. It treats cataracts and presbyopia in a single procedure.
14 Premium IOL Options — Matched to Your Lifestyle
We carry one of the widest IOL line-ups in Gangnam: monofocal (Clareon), enhanced monofocal (Eyhance, Precizon Go), extended-depth-of-focus (Clareon Vivity, PureSee), and trifocal/full-range lenses (PanOptix, PanOptix PRO, FineVision, Synergy, Lisa TRI, Odyssey). Your lens is chosen from measurement data and your daily activities — night driving, reading, golf, or screen work — not from what happens to be in stock.
For international patients (not enrolled in Korean National Health Insurance), cataract surgery is fully self-pay. IOL-inclusive prices per eye range from KRW 1,500,000 (Clareon monofocal) to KRW 6,500,000 (PanOptix PRO) — see the full price guide. Surgery itself takes about 10 minutes per eye, and you go home the same day.
